A blast destroyed a small building stocked with explosive powder at the General Dynamics defense plant Friday morning in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec.

The company manufactures specialized ammunition required by the military and police, TVA Nouvelles reports.

Michel Menard, director of the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield fire service, told the news agency that firefighters assumed a defensive posture in fighting the fire. He said there were no injuries in the blast.

Another website, VoixRegionale, reports that two unplanned explosions occurred at the same General Dynamics factory in December 2019.
