In the fall an occasional puff of smoke near Interstate 10 in Beaumont, TX, signals the beginning of a special time in the area. That third full week in October ushers in the annual educational opportunities for the world’s emergency responders to hone their skills and be brought up to speed on current issues in emergency response.
The BEST Complex Annual Fall Fire School (BAFFS) was held Oct. 19-23, 2015. Industrial fire brigade members and municipal firefighters, both volunteer and paid, attended the educational event. Courses are available in many disciplines.
These opportunities allow participants the much-needed ability to engage live-fire each year for training as well as attend courses for national certifications such as Pro-Board accreditation. The training was conducted at Beaumont Emergency Training (BEST) Complex, one of the largest live-fueled fire training facilities in the world. Emergency responders need to get their hands on the equipment in near-real-life incidents to gain proficiency.
BEST Complex provides year-round fire, hazardous materials, HAZWOPER, rescue, CPR, and incident command training.
