A factory manufacturing batteries caught fire and collapsed Thursday morning, killing one firefighter and injuring 19 others.

Three firefighters had to be rescued from the debris of the collapsed building, ABC News reports.

A security guard was also injured at the scene. The building was empty when fire broke out in the basement near 4 a.m., according to police. A series of explosions could be heard as heavy smoke engulfed the rear of the structure before it collapsed.
