An explosion Friday afternoon in East Huntingdon Twp., Pennsylvania, involving a propane tanker inside a garage left three people injured, one in critical condition.

East Huntingdon Fire Chief Brian Kite thanked all departments participating in emergency operations.

“Amazing how a group of so many pulled together to make everything work out,” Kite said on the department’s Facebook page.

The garage roof at Fleet Services collapsed in flames nearly an hour after the explosion. Fire officials said workers were doing repairs on the valve of the propane trailer at the time of the blast.

Firefighters were forced to apply cooling water to several other propane trucks parked near the burning building. An insufficient supply of water meant that tankers had to be used in rotation to get water to the fire scene.

Medical helicopters were used to ferry the injured to area hospitals.
