Plant personnel worked with firefighters to extinguish burning machinery at a paper products plant Monday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department responders arrived at the Proctor and Gamble about noon to find plant personnel struggling to contain a fire that was burning throughout one of the process machines, the fire department Facebook page reports.

“Crews encountered moderate to heavy smoke with fire in numerous locations throughout the machine,” the Facebook page states.

Due to the complexity of the fire and labor required to fight the fire officials raised the call to a second alarm level. Plant personnel assisted as firefighters opened up the burning machine and ventilation system to locate and extinguish the fire.

Fire departments assisting GBMFD were Bellevue, DePere, New Franken, Denmark, Howard, and Ashwaubenon. The Lawrence Fire Department provided a crew to cover the city until off-duty firefighters could arrive.
