Two conveyor belts feeding a coal crusher at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in India were damaged by fire Thursday, a company spokesperson reports.
Quick action contained the fire with no major damage to the plant, the spokesperson said. Production was not affected.
In June 2012, a massive explosion during a trial run of a new oxygen plant at Visakhapatnam killed 19 people. The latest fatality at the plant occurred in February 2015 when an assistant general manager fell into a rotating drum.
The plant reports an annual revenue of $2.59 billion
