Fire razed four warehouses at a recycling plant Wednesday morning in Madison, Illinois, with several explosions reported, the Madison Fire Department Facebook site states.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. to find at least one building at Interco Trading fully involved and collapsing. The department requested mutual aid from nearby Missouri and Illinois communities.

Nearby residents were evacuated as the fire continued to burn through the morning.

Madison Mayor John Hamm told KMOV that firefighters did not know the contents of the burning warehouses and were attempting to reach the owners.

Interco Trading provides metals, computers and electronic recycling services to industry and government, the company website states.
