An employee at a food processing plant died Monday morning in Garden City, Kansas, when his harness became caught in machinery.

Kendrick Gregory, 30, was doing maintenance on an assembly line at Tyson Fresh Meats plant when his harness was snagged by the machinery, pulling him against a take-away belt, the Finney County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page states.

A co-worker managed to cut Gregory free. However, the sheriff’s report states that Gregory had stopped breathing before he could be transported by ambulance to St. Catherine’s Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Tyson Foods operates six plants in Kansas and employs more than 5,600 people. The company says its total economic impact in the state is more than $2.4 billion.
