A dust collector fire Friday afternoon at a vegetable dehydration plant in Farmville, North Carolina, took nearly 90 minutes to extinguish, media reports state.

The fire broke out at about 1:15 p.m., with workers at Natural Blend attempting unsuccessfully to extinguish it before firefighters with the Farmville Fire Department arrived.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.

Dust in industrial ventilation systems can be highly flammable if not handled correctly. Dust collection units capture the dust as it flows through ventilation ducts.

Natural Blend’s 27,000-square-foot facility consists of two storage silos, a produce washing station, two commercial grade dicers, two large industrial dryers and a staging area for the finished product, the company website states.
