An estimated 10,000 square meters of materials such as wood and cardboard were swept by flames Saturday at a packaging plant in El Coyol, Costa Rica.

With strong winds fanning the flames, officials predict that it will take several days to bring the massive fire under control, local media reports.

At about noon fire broke out in the outdoor storage area for the Empaques Santa Ana packaging plant. Seventeen emergency vehicles remain at the scene.
