Two workers died and another was injured when a chemical reactor exploded Wednesday morning at a bio-diesel plant near Zaheerabad, India, media reports.

Welding work to reopen the plant after the COVID-19 lockdown was underway, authorities stated. The blast destroyed the reactor roof and knocked the casualties off the structure.

With protesters gathering at the plant, local legislators promised compensation for the victims’ families.

Zaheerabad is 100 kilometers northwest of Hyderabad, capital city of the Indian state of Telangana.
