At least eight fire departments participated in a mutual aid response to a manufacturing plant on fire in Sterling, Illinois, Wednesday morning.

First report of the fire came in at 5:30 a.m., WQAD TV reports. Firefighters found an extensive fire on the roof of Sterling Steel Ball and requested mutual aid from surrounding departments.

The flames were brought under control within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated as in excess of $80,000.

Sterling Steel Ball is a division of FRANTZ Manufacturing, a maker of conveyor belt components and steel ball products.
