3 Injured in Explosion, Fire at UK Processing Plant

An explosion and fire Friday morning at an oil seed processing plant in southeast London sent three workers to the hospital, the London Fire Brigade reports.

The first report reached dispatchers at 9:13 a.m., local media reports. Firefighters arrived to find flames rising above the plant located in London’s Erith neighborhood.

Nearly 80 people safely evacuated from the plant. Authorities declared the fire under control shortly after noon.

Fire teams from Bexley, East Greenwich, Erith, Plumstead, and Wennington joined forces at the scene.
