An orange flash of light that illuminated the horizon near Tehran Friday night is through to have been a gas explosion near an Iranian weapons development facility, media reports indicate.
At least two concussions were heard simultaneous with the flash, according to social media accounts.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Defense Ministry said the flash was a gas explosion near Parchin military complex. However, no immediate request was made for ambulance or emergency aid.
Video shown on Iranian state television revealed damaged holding tanks and metal buildings at the reported explosion site.
Parchin is widely known as the largest military munitions plant in the country.
