Algerian Responder Collapses, Dies at Steel Plant Fire

A young firefighter responding to a steel factory fire in eastern Algeria Monday collapsed at the scene and later died, local media report.

The firefighter suffered no external injury during the fire operation, the newspaper Ennahar states. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death

Fire broke out at the Bellara Steel Complex in El Milia. Emergency personnel with the Jijel Province Civil Protection unit had dealt with the worst of the emergency when the firefighter suddenly collapsed.

He was rushed to the nearest hospital where he died.
