Nearly 70 workers at an Iranian petrochemical complex in Mahshahr fell ill after exposure to leaking chlorine gas Saturday, local media reports.

The state-run IRNA news agency reports that most of those sickened at the Karun petrochemical center were released immediately after medical treatment. Mahshahr is located in Southeast Iran's oil-rich Khuzestan province.

In another Khuzestan city, a transformer explosion triggered a fire at a power plant Saturday. Firefighters in Ahvaz battled the blaze nearly two hours.
