Nearly 13,000 tons of recycled paper and cardboard were threatened by a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in the Zaragoza province of Spain.

Flames consumed almost 25% of the material on hand at a recycling plant warehouse in El Burgo de Ebro, local media report. Although the fire has been declared under control it is expected to continue burning the next several days.

Fire spread through four of nearly 20 compartments inside the warehouse, covering an area of about 12,000 square meters, the newspaper el Periodico reports. Heavy equipment was brought in to separate the burned material from the rest.
