Burning plastics produce heavy smoke during a fire in Haina, Dominican Republic, Sunday.

More than 14 fire crews in the Dominican province of San Cristobal fought a huge fire spreading through a plastics plant Sunday afternoon.

The plant, identified as the location of both Global Pack and Flexopack, is located in the industrial area of Haina. Fire and smoke damaged early 95% of the factory complex, local media report.

Homes and business near the plant were ordered evacuated due to heavy smoke produced by the fire. Fire crews from San Cristobal, Nigua, El Carril and Haina responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause has yet to be determined.
