Five died Saturday in an explosion at a sugar refinery in India.

Five workers died Saturday afternoon when a boiler explosion tore through a sugar refinery in India’s Maharashtra’s state.

All five suffered severe burns and died at the scene, local media report.

At about 2:15 p.m., the explosion rocked a biogas plant serving Manas Agro Industries & Sugar in Bela, Nagpur district. Responders arrived to find thick smoke pouring out of the building.

The five killed did welding work at the plant. Police said that welding work was under way when the blast occurred.
