Firefighters respond to a plastics plant fire Tuesday afternoon in Evansville, Indiana.

An exhaust fan is suspected to be the sources of a large fire that broke out at a plastics factory Tuesday afternoon in Evansville, Indiana, local media report.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Larson told the Courier & Press that an fire had been reported at the rear of the Green Tree Plastics factory at about 1 p.m. Workers using a fire extinguisher were unable to put out the fire.

All ten employees inside the factory were safely evacuated when the fire began to escalate.

Responding with five fire trucks, firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings. Heavy black smoke billowed from the burning building.
