A massive fire erupted Friday afternoon at a textile factory in northern Italy, local media report.

At about 1 p.m. Friday, fire broke out at the Donato Martinelli textile company in Leffe. Firefighters arrived to find a warehouse measuring more than 2,500 square meters ablaze.

Welding work on the roof had been in progress at the time of the fire.

Responders from the surrounding communities of Bergamo, Brescia, Clusone, Gazzangia, Lecco, Monza and Romano converged on the scene. The fire was declared under control late that afternoon.

Workers were on their lunch break when the fire broke out. However, a plant manager did suffer burns to his arms.
