A brief fire broke out on an elevated platform at an oil refinery in Saskatchewan, Canada, shortly before noon Monday.
In-house firefighters extinguished the blaze in the Co-op Refinery Complex’s gas production unit within 20 minutes, fire officials stated. The Regina Fire Department staged outside the refinery but were not required.
“The CRC safety systems worked as intended and the incident did not pose a threat to the community or surrounding neighborhoods and businesses,” a press release issued by the refinery states.
The incident is now under investigation and CRC will provide an update at the conclusion of the investigation.
No injuries were reported.
