A security guard who reported a fire Monday morning at a pen factory in India was later found dead at the scene, local media report.

At about 2:30 a.m., security guard Sandeep Kumar called to report the fire at Noida (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority), a planned community in the state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

“Fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately but the fire was out of control,” a fire brigade spokesperson told the Indian Express. “It took around two hours to douse the fire.”

Kumar’s body was found inside.

“He was probably trying to stop the fire,” the fire brigade spokesperson said.
