Nearby residents reported a leak of anhydrous ammonia from a walnut processing facility in central California Thursday morning, local media report.

The GSF Nut Company near Orosi keeps hundreds of gallons of ammonia stored on site. Leaking ammonia presents an inhalation hazard, Fire Captain Joe Rosa told KFSN.

Firefighters had difficulty locating the actual leak. Meanwhile, residents in nearby homes were told to shelter-in-place.
