Two workers subsequently died from severe injuries after an explosion Monday (August 10) at a processing plant in southwestern Mississippi that went unreported to authorities until Friday.

William Jackson, 51, died Thursday and Terrence Fortenberry, 56, died Friday at Merit Health Central hospital in Hinds County. Both died from complications of thermal burns from the explosion at DAR PRO Solutions near Byram, the Clarion Ledger reports.

Neither the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office nor the fire and police authorities in Byram were aware of the explosion until contacted by the newspaper.

DAR PRO Solutions recycles waste cooking oil from restaurants and food processing. The company would not comment when contacted by the Ledger.
