An explosion at a plywood factory in southeastern India Thursday killed two people who were collecting scrap metal, local media report.

Located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, the factory operates from an industrial estate in the city of Vijayawada. A father and son team were collecting empty cans using a motorized rickshaw when the blast happened.

The blast was powerful enough to throw the bodies nearly 50 meters. Because the explosion happened during the lunch hour no workers at the plant were injured.

Investigators believe that traces of chemical still left in the empty cans were responsible for the blast.
