Firefighters work to extinguish recycled paper burning Thursday at a plant in western Ecuador.

Responders battled a cardboard and paper mill fire Thursday morning in western Ecuador, local media report.
Shortly before 1 a.m., emergency dispatchers in Marcelino Maridueña received news of the fire. Three fire brigades responded to the scene, trying to isolate the flames and protect the inventory of recycled paper.
No injuries were reported.
