An industrial mold weighting more than 12 tons crushed to death a worker Tuesday at an injection molding plant in suburban Detroit, local media reports.
David Spano, 42, died instantly when the mold, mounted on a wall inside Romeo RIM Inc. in Bruce Township, Michigan, came loose and fell, authorities said.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
Manufacturing at Romeo RIM uses a process in which molten polyurethane is injected into a mold under pressure to produce automotive and mechanical parts.
