Fire damaged a 100-square-meter section of an idle factory Monday morning in southern China, local media report.

At about 9 a.m., fire broke at a plant shut down since 2018, raising a huge plume of smoke over Guangzhou in Guangdong Province. Firefighter fought the blaze for two hours before achieving extinguishment.

The plant site, covering more than 65 acres, is currently under the management of the city’s rapid transit system. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
