Flames engulfed a chemical factory Saturday morning in southern Pakistan, injuring eight people.
Located in the port city of Karachi, the factory is considered a total loss. Firefighters arriving on scene first focused on rescuing workers still trapped inside the burning building, local media report.
Two workers were reached factory's upper floors. Seven to eight more people were evacuated from surround building threatened by the flames.
Six fire tenders were assigned to the blaze.
The battle to extinguish the blaze lasted more than three hours and put a serious strain on the public water system. Firefighters were forced to carry out extensive cooling operation on surrounding structures that threatened to catch fire.
