A six-hour fire consumed a motorcycle spare parts factory Saturday night in southeastern Nigeria, local media report.

At about 10 p.m., flames broke out at the Louis Carter Industries plant in the Anambra State city of Nnewi. The plant building was destroyed in the fire.

Early attempts by security personnel using fire extinguishers to battle the intense fire failed. The blaze burned nearly an hour and a half before firefighters arrived, The Nation reports.

Fire officials said that sparks from a high-tension power line ignited the fire
