The incident occurred on Jan. 27 as Emmet County’s airport firefighting contractors conducted routine tests on their equipment.

Officials report another PFAS spill happened during required testing of one of the Pellston Airport's onsite crash trucks, according to MSN News.

About a gallon's worth of firefighting foam, which contains PFAS, discharged through the roof turret of the Emmet County, Michigan, airport’s truck.

Representatives from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) said the spill may have partially been a result of human error and equipment failure. Ememt County officials said they are trying to contact appropriate parties to find out what went wrong with the test that caused the spill.
