Residents have been evacuated from homes as emergency services battles what’s been termed as a "significant" industrial blaze.

Firefighters were called the fire at Park Street, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England, on September 8.

Police asked people to avoid the area while road closures were put in place.

People are being advised to keep doors and windows closed, with a plume of smoke visible across the town.

The BBC reports there were 100 firefighters at the scene and as of now there have been no casualties. Firefighters originally heard of people trapped inside a certain area, but later learned that all persons were accounted for.

The fire started in one unit and had spread to a second industrial unit, when officials arrived.

Crews were expected to be at the scene through the night and into Thursday.

Once the fire is under control there will be a full investigation into the cause
