Fire broke out in a laser cutting machine Tuesday morning at a metal working factory in Gloucester, Massachusetts, fire officials report.
The Gloucester Fire Department battled a working fire at a business on Sadler Street Extension this morning, Chief Eric Smith said.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, fire officials received a 911 call about a fire located at 10 Sadler St. Ext., site of PMS Manufactured Products, Inc.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met by the building occupants and were informed of a fire inside of a laser cutting machine and began an interior attack.
Multiple extinguishers were required to fully extinguish the fire located inside the machine. The efforts of firefighters were to minimize damage to the machine and the facility with the goal of minimal interruption of service for the business. The fire was well contained in the machine and was quickly extinguished by first arriving fire companies.
Approximately 12 people were present in the building at the time of the fire. Crews were cleared from the scene at approximately 11 a.m.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, and no injuries were reported. PMS Manufactured Products, Inc. is a metal working company operating out of a 20,000 square-foot facility.
