Fire swept through the former home of a chemical plant Saturday afternoon in Columbia, South Carolina, the Columbia Fire Department reports via Facebook.

At about 3:30 p.m. fire broke out at a vacant commercial property that was once Cardinal Chemical on South Beltline Boulevard, local media reports. The configuration of the property made it difficult to get water to the flames other than using ladder trucks.

Two hours later firefighters had brought the fire under control but continued to put out hot spots left behind.

No injuries were reported. Cause of the fire has not been determined.
