A mutual aid response was required for a massive recycling plant fire Sunday morning in Montana Vista, Texas.

“Roads are closed and multiple hydrants are in use to support fire ground operations,” Mountain Vista Fire Rescue reports. “Please avoid the area!”

The National Weather Service in El Paso reports that the quantity of smoke rising from the fire was enough to be visible by means of GOES satellite imagery.

Beside the MVFR, both El Paso County Emergency Services District #1 and #2 responded to the scene.

Breathing apparatus was not only required by the job but also to observe social distancing, one fire chief told KTSM.

“A lot of our job demands that we are right next to each other helping out and this is for us a little bit different,” Roger Esparza, chief of El Paso County ESD#2, said. “The comradery has been changing.”
