Fire Breaks Out at Pharmaceuticals Plant in India

A chemical reaction sparked a fire Sunday afternoon at a pharmaceutical research and development unit in Jeedimetla, India, local media reports.

Ten workers on duty at Suven Pharmaceutical Ltd. escaped without injury, the New Indian Express reports. Four pumpers rushed to the scene while employees moved flammable chemicals in drums stored near the fire.

A fire inspector quoted by the newspaper indicated that the initial reaction spread through other chemicals nearby.
