Firefighter enter a burning conveyor belt factory in Istanbul Thursday.

Fire originating in a storage area swept through a factory making conveyor belts Thursday afternoon in Istanbul, Turkey.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze four hours after it broke out, local media report. Most of the 2,500 square-meter, two-story factory located in the Başakşehir district is involved.

Emergency personnel utilized construction equipment to separate the burning plastics and control the fire. A statement issued by the Başakşehir District Governorate states that 80 firefighters from local and surrounding districts utilized 32 emergency vehicles at the scene.

“Fire has been taken under control,” the statement reads. “Cooling works are ongoing.”

No injuries were reported.
