An explosion Thursday morning at a packaging plant in north central Georgia injured several workers including one transferred by helicopter, local media report.

The blast happened at Granite Packaging in Social Circle, 45 miles east of Atlanta. According to the company website, Granite Packaging has manufacturing and warehouse space totaling 112,000 square feet.

Other than the worker transferred by helicopter, the other injured were treated at the scene.

Walton County Fire Rescue and Georgia State Police also responded to the emergency. Monroe Fire Department provided coverage for any addition fires in the Social Circle or Walton County area.
