A machine fire Thursday at a gravel washing plant in southeastern England raised smoke visible for miles.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service responded to the plant on Ipswich Port’s west bank terminal at about 11:22 a.m. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly using firefighting jets and other equipment.
Crews from Princess Street, Ipswich East and Holbrook were called in to battle the blaze.
