Goodyear Tire and Rubber endured a fiery weekend with incidents reported at its facilities on two continents.

In Turkey, fire broke out in the ventilation above heated equipment used to cure tires after molding. The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade responding to the factory in the Arifyye district found flames rising around the factory chimney, local media report.

Workers were quickly evacuated without injury. Firefighters extinguished the flames in a short period of time.

Both the ventilation system and the production area were damaged by the fire.

In Venezuela, Flames tore through a Goodyear warehouse Saturday morning, local media reports.

At about 5:30 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to a warehouse at Goodyear’s Black Eagle plant in Los Guayos, located in Carabobo state. Photographs posted to Twitter by firefighters reveal a massive, billowing fire rising high above the facility.

Goodyear announced in December 2018 that it would no longer produce tires for the market in Venezuela due to the country’s severe economic crisis.

Firefighters from Carabobo, Valencia and Guacara responded to the fire scene.
