In-house firefighters extinguished a hydrotreater fire Wednesday afternoon at a gas processing plant in southern Russia.

At about 1 p.m., fire broke out at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant, part of the largest complex for mining, processing and transportation of gas, sulfur and liquid hydrocarbons. The complex extracts and processes 9.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

No injuries were reported. Work to restore the hydrotreater began immediately.
