A half-mile evacuation zone has been placed around a burning train in southwest Wales Thursday morning, local media report.

At least three cars of the diesel caught fire in Llangennech near Lianelli. Llangennech County Coucillor Gary Jones posted to Facebook that a “major incident” had occurred.

One witness on Facebook identified the train as belonging to Murco Petroleum.

The Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police posted to Facebook that people should avoid the Llangennech area.

“A cordon has been put in place around the train, with roads closed and homes being evacuated,” the post states.
