Flames light up a petrochemical plant Saturday night in the Philippines.

Flames erupted at a petrochemical plant Saturday night on an island off the coast of Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippines.

Firefighters arrived at JG Summit Petrochemicals Corp in Batangas City at about 10:18 a.m. after the first report of fire. Regional fire officials state that the fire was declared out shortly past midnight.

The fire department did not disclose the cause of the fire.

JG Summit is one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines. Its holdings include air transportation, banking food manufacturing, hotels, petrochemicals, power generation, publishing, real estate and property development and telecommunications.
