Flames spread through three companies in an industrial park Sunday in northeastern Mexico, requiring an area evacuation.

At about noon, witnesses reported heavy smoke rising from the warehouse of a plastic product company in the Monte Olivo Industrial Park in Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon, about 16 kilometers southwest of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

The fire proceeded to spread into two neighboring businesses, local media report. Emergency personnel evacuated about 30 people from nearby homes and businesses.

Smoke was observed as far away as the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
