Flames broke out at an electronics factory Wednesday afternoon in northwestern Taiwan, forcing the evacuation of nearly 2,000 workers.
At about 3 p.m., fire spread through a duct at the Xinxing Electronics factory in Tauyuan, local media report. Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke accompanied by the smell of burning plastic.
Witnesses report that continual explosions were heard during the fire. However, no casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
