An explosion Tuesday at a chemical plant in eastern China that killed two people and injured six shattered windows hundreds of meters in any direction, local media report.
At about 7:30 a.m., a blast rocked Zhejiang Haizhou Pharmaceutical Chemical Co., Lt. at the Futan Industrial Park, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. The explosion levelled the factory building and heavily damaged surrounding structures.
A steel tank pitched several meters into the air landed in a residential area several hundred meters away.
The company produces active ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates and medical equipment.
